Matei Moldoveanu

Lead Data Scientist

Dr. Matei Moldoveanu is a Lead Data Scientist specialising in wearable technology and human-computer interaction, dedicated to translating complex research into practical technologies that improve accessibility and user experience.

Prior to his PhD, Matei worked as a Software Engineer at the Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre in Sheffield, where he retrofitted manufacturing equipment with IoT sensors, developed AI-powered quality inspection systems, and demonstrated Industry 4.0 innovations at trade shows across the UK. This experience shaped his approach to bridging emerging technologies with real-world applications while communicating effectively with diverse audiences—from C-suite executives to the general public.

Matei pursued his PhD in Computer Science at Université Gustave-Eiffel in collaboration with Huawei's Research Center in Paris, where he focused on distributed learning and developed algorithms for distributed data fusion in wireless networks. His research contributions include a patent and publications presented at leading international conferences.

Following his PhD, Matei joined Wisear where he led research and development initiatives that transformed physiological signals—brain activity, muscle movements, and motion data—into robust, real-time control systems for accessibility applications. His technical projects spanned IMU-based head tracking, embedded machine learning pipelines, and biosignal processing algorithms optimized for wearable devices.

Matei now brings this expertise in biosignal processing, embedded machine learning, and user-centric product development to Naqi, where he continues advancing the frontier of wearable human-computer interaction technologies.
